-Allowing 18 to 20-year-olds to drink alcohol in regulated environments with supervision would decrease unsafe drinking activity and promote safe drinking -State governments should be able to set a legal drinking age that reflects their unique demographics, legal context, and history without threat of losing funds -Lowering the law would reduce the number of underage casualties from alcohol-related injuries or accidents as a result of fearing legal consequences call for medical attention -If you are old enough to be able to put your life on the line for your county in the military then you should be able to consume alcohol -High non-compliance this law promotes a general disrespect and non-compliance with US law officials -The law is largely ineffective because the majority of teens continue to consume alcohol |
-Lowering the law would be medically irresponsible because alcohol affects development
-The policy in place now works and the majority of people approve of it so why would we want to change it? -Lowering the age from 21 to 18 would allow a greater number of the young people to drink alcohol in bars and nightclubs, which are not safe environments -Lowering the legal age would give high schoolers and potentially even middle schoolers easier access to alcohol -The law should stay at 21 because people tend to be more mature and responsible than at 18 -The law reduces alcohol consumption which is not good for your health |
